WorleyParsons awarded Romanian refinery contract

WorleyParsons is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract by Petrom S.A. for the front-end engineering and design (FEED) associated with the modernization and expansion of the Petrobrazi refinery in Ploesti, Romania. The project is part of Petrom’s Vision 2010 refinery modernization and development program.

WorleyParsons’ expected revenue over the course of the project is estimated to exceed A$40 million. The overall Vision 2010 programme is valued at approximately €1 billion.

The project will be executed from WorleyParsons’ offices in Edmonton, Canada; London, UK; and Ploiesti, Romania. This multi-office execution approach follows the proven WorleyParsons workshare principles that enable WorleyParsons to bring together its worldwide resources and expertise in an efficient, cost effective, and optimum manner to better serve our clients throughout the globe. The project also demonstrates the successful integration of the recently acquired Colt Engineering operations in Canada.

The overall management of the work will be from London with FEED packages being prepared in both London and Edmonton and field support services provided from Ploesti. The main execution offices will also be provided with CAD drafting support from WorleyParsons’ Beijing operating centre.

Commenting, WorleyParsons Chief Executive Officer John Grill said: “I am very pleased that Petrom has chosen to work with WorleyParsons on this strategically important project. It strengthens our already good relationship with Petrom and expands our presence in the Romanian market.”

The project will be the cornerstone of WorleyParsons’ proposed new office to be located in Ploiesti, Romania.

Petrom is the largest Romanian oil and gas group, with activities in the business segments of exploration and production, refining and petrochemicals, natural gas, as well as sales and marketing. Petrom has estimated oil and gas reserves of 1 billion barrels of oil equivalent, has an annual refining capacity of 8 million metric tons and owns about 550 filling stations in Romania.
